Renaissance Festival brings 16th century Europe to Middle Amana

 The 21st annual Iowa Rennaissance Festival & Gathering o'Celts  will return to the Amana Colonies on Memorial Day weekend from May 26 to 28.

More than 300 costumed characters will turn Middle Amana Park in the heart of the Amana Colonies into an outdoor royal faire with all of the historical and cultural trimmings of 16th century Europe.

The "rain or shine" festival includes 50 tent pavilions, an indoor royal banquet hall with beer garden, two shelter houses, six stages of entertainment, three living history encampemts, dozens of folk life exhibits, a children's realm, public-participation games of skill, a huge natural amphitheater for the horseback jousting tournament, an artisan merchant bazaar and free parking.

Admission is $10 for adults, $6 for kids and free for anyone under 6 years of age. A two-day pass is $15 and the three-day is $18.  Group discounts are also offered.
