We have 131 event listings for Friday through Sunday so there are plenty of options for things to do this weekend. Below we highlight a few from the list.

Todd Barry

You may have seen Todd Barry as Mickey Rourke’s no-so-nice boss in The Wrestler; as the annoying bongo player on HBO’s Flight of the Conchords; or in roles on Louie, Sex And the City, The Larry Sanders Show, Chappelle’s Show, The Sarah Silverman Program, Pootie Tang, and Road Trip. He performs at 9 p.m. Sunday in Iowa City. From Barry's website: "Barry was born in New York City. He moved to South Florida as a cute little boy, then moved to Manhattan as a macho little man. He received a BA in English from the University of Florida."

The Merry Widow

Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre presents “The Merry Widow” at Theatre Cedar Rapids. Free curtain talks one hour before each performance. The performances are at 8 p.m. Saturday or part of a live broadcast on Iowa Public Radio at 2 p.m. Sunday. Diana Nollen writes, "It’s all about love, money and love for money at the turn of the 20th century. The richest woman in the pretend principality of Pontevedro is off to see Paris, where her countrymen fear she will be seduced by the merry lifestyle and merry men, marry one and move her merry money with her. Thus begins a plot to have her marry someone from her homeland, keeping her fortune where it just might pull the tiny country back from the brink of economic collapse."

Sunday family movie

The Marion Public Library will host a family movie event at 2:15 p.m. Sunday. The movie showing will be Marley & Me: The Puppy Years (rated PG). "Marley is back for more tail-wagging fun, and this time he speaks! That's right, the world's worst dog has a frisky voice and an attitude to match. Join Marley for his mischievous puppy years as he and his summer pal, Bodi Grogan, wreak havoc on a neighborhood dog contest. Marley outwits Dobermans, Shepherds, and Collies, while stealing hearts in his own unique and lovable way. Fetch big laughs for the whole family! Families are welcome to bring their own snacks. Children under the age of nine must be supervised by an adult while in the library."

Audition for "Wedding Singer"

Have you wanted to act in a play and can sing? Here's your chance. Theatre Cedar Rapids will hold auditions for “The Wedding Singer,” the Tony Award-nominated musical that performs March 9-31. People who audition are asked to prepare 16 bars of a song of their choice. Directors encourage auditioners to choose a song that was popular in the 1980s.
