The Hungry Games have come to Cedar Rapids.

No, that's not a typo. It's the theme of this year's Cedar Rapids Restaurant Week.

Twenty-nine restaurants will serve special menus March 1 to 6, featuring $10 lunch specials and $25 dinner menus.

For the first time this year, the week is also a competition. All week, restaurant patrons can vote for their favorite meals at Facebook.com/CedarRapidsCVB. At the end of the week, the top four restaurant tributes will have a chance to compete to be crowned Victor at a Dinner of Champions showdown.

The Gazette and Hoopla are organizers of the event, which will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Cedar Rapids Convention Center March 10. The night will feature food from the competitors and the DoubleTree, signature drinks from Cedar Ridge Distillery and Lion Bridge Brewing Company and games for diners to play between bites. Tickets are on sale at TheGazette.com/DinnerOfChampions.

Restaurants won't be the only ones competing this week. Diners are invited to share their Restaurant Week photos and food reviews on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #CRHungryGames. At the end of the week, prizes will be awarded to the best photos. The Cedar Rapids Convention and Visitor's Bureau, which organizes Restaurant Week, will be looking for the best food reviewers. Two top reviewers will be invited to write food reviews for the bureau in the future.

Not all the restaurants had submitted their menus by Hoopla's press time, but check Hooplanow.com and at cedar-rapids.com/restaurant-week for updates.

Happy dining, and may the odds be ever in your flavor.

Restaurant Week lunches are $10, dinners $25. Vote for favorite meals at Facebook.com/CedarRapidsCVB.
