Butcher Block Steakhouse will open daily at 11 a.m. and will offer steakhouse staples such as sirloin, ribeye and New York Strip, plus chicken, ribs, burgers and salads. There will be a full service bar too.General Manager Drew Munson said the concept was inspired by the lack of independent steakhouses in Cedar Rapids, and will highlight local foods, spirits and beers. Customers will be able to dine in a cozy bar area, an interesting dining room filled with booths made from church pews, or a small diner-like nook. We’ll have more details next week. The owners of Riley's are opening branching out into a new steakhouse concept at 1117 First Ave. SE. The Butcher Block Steakhouse will be next door to the Sip N' Stir, across the street from Coe College and just a few blocks away from the original Riley's Cafe. The target opening date is Oct. 8.
