John Carter Cash, son of June Carter Cash and Johnny Cash, will host a screening of "Walk the Line," the Oscar-winning film he helped produce about his parents, on Friday at FilmScene in Iowa City, as part of an evening that benefits the new independent cinema in downtown Iowa City.  The details:

The evening begins at FilmScene with a special screening of the Oscar-winning film “Walk the Line,” which details the lives of Cash’s parents, Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. Cash will introduce the film, which he helped produce, and stay for a post-screening Q&A session. Following the film, Cash will sign copies of books "House of Cash," "Anchored in Love," "Lupus Rex" and "Momma Loves Her Little Son" as well as hand-printed posters made for this event by Iowa City’s Zenzic Press. Following will be  a reception and intimate musical set from 10:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. at the Clinton Street Social Club. Cash’s trio will entertain with an acoustic performance while guests are invited to purchase cocktails and menu items taken from the Cash family cookbook.   Related:
