Event Description

We welcome the public to join Johnson County employees and elected officials in celebration of our first two years of issuing Johnson County Community IDs... complete with family-friendly activities!  This event is FREE for everyone.

Children's IDs issued on our first day - July 17, 2015 - will start to expire on this exact day... so we encourage those residents to renew their ID... or join the 1,000 other County residents and get a brand new one if you haven't yet!  Each Community ID renewed or newly issued during the party will receive one free Family Day Pass to The Iowa Children's Museum (at the Coral Ridge Mall.)  Child (under 18) IDs cost $4 and are valid for two years.  Adult IDs cost $8 and are valid for four years.

The Administration Building will be the home to the following family-friendly activities:

1.  Get your Community ID, but don't forget to bring your proof of identity and proof of residency (found on  Child IDs (under 18 years old): $4/each and valid for two years.  Adult IDs:  $8/each and valid for four years.

2.  Join your kids on a walking tour of our downtown County campus to learn about local government!  Open to kids 5 years old to 10 years old. Tours at 2:15 pm, 3:15pm, and 4:15 pm, space is limited.  First come, first served.

3.  Check out a book in the mobile Antelope Lending Library!  Books on the move... how cool is that!?  The vehicle will be in the parking lot from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm.

4.  Do science activities with the University of Iowa STEM Program students.  Rumor has it you'll be able to touch human organs and practice your laproscopic surgery skills.

5.  Johnson County Public Health will have a table to talk about the dangers of smoking... and local immunization and testing options.

6.  Explore the University of Iowa Mobile Museum!  Do some hands-on science and technology experiments out in our parking lot.

7.  Eat cookies and popcorn and cotton candy... oh my!

Event is free, but the Community IDs are $4/child and $8/adult (purchase not required to attend our celebration).
