Chase Garrett’s Blues & Boogie Woogie Piano Stomp

Chase Garrett and friends are ready to show Iowa City the future by focusing on the next generation of blues and boogie woogie pianists: organizer Garrett of Iowa City; Nirek Mokar, 14, of Paris; and Ben Levin, 18, of Cincinnati. They’ll hit the Englert stage alongside internationally acclaimed saxophonists Sax Gordon of Boston, David Gomez of St. Louis and Saul Lubaroff of Iowa City, as well as trumpeter Al Naylor of Cedar Rapids; blues vocalist Emilie Richard of St. Louis; rockabilly and blues guitarist Elliot Sowell of St. Louis; Simon Boyer of Paris, percussionist and artistic director of the Volcanic Blues Festival in Le-Mont Dore, France; and bassist Craig Dove of Cedar Rapids.

Orchestra Iowa: Beethoven’s Fifth
Friday to Sunday, Nov. 10 to 12

Orchestra Iowa is about to unleash the four most famous notes in music, with Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. But that’s not the only music in the spotlight. Miko Kominami, the orchestra’s principal pianist, will be featured in Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 in C Major, K. 467. Rounding out the program are works by Ginastera and Romero.

Peppa Pig Live! Peppa Pig’s Surprise

It’s a lovely day, and Peppa is playing outside with her friends. Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig have a surprise for her and her younger brother, George, but no matter how hard they try, they cannot guess what it is. The live show brings the hit TV series to life on stage, full of interactive fun, games and surprises for preschoolers and their families. It encompasses the colorful nature of the popular television series, and features new songs and life-size puppets that walk, talk, dance and jump up and down.
