Freedom Festival 4th of July Concert
<p>Returning to the McGrath Amphitheatre for one huge 4th of July finale party is the Johnny Holm Band! Perfect for all ages and the best seat in the house for the Celebration of Freedom Fireworks, enjoy an amazing show with just the price of a $5 button! Kids 8 and under are always free!</p><p>Doors open at 6 PM with first-come, first reserve seating! Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival Celebration of Freedom Fireworks
<p>The 4th of July and fireworks are what the Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival was founded upon. With that in mind, we set out to make sure we could get the very best fireworks show possible. With the blessing from the City of Cedar Rapids, this year’s fireworks display will be just that.</p><p>The Freedom Festival has grown to offer the Corridor the largest fireworks display in Iowa on the 4th of July! Sit back and enjoy the music of today and yesterday’s hits while we put on the show of the year. The fireworks show is choreographed by J&M Displays.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>The 2nd Avenue Bridge & McGrath Amphitheatre will be open for entry beginning at 6 PM (please no early entry as a courtesy to our vendors and volunteers who will be setting up) Wear your Freedom Festival button for FREE entry to the best seats for the fireworks (kids 8 and under do not need a button)</p><p>Food and drinks will be available for purchase on the 2nd Ave bridge from these amazing vendors: Hy-Vee, O’s Grill, Kona Ice, Americana, La Reya, and more! <p>The 2022 Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival is excited to host Laser Light Show produced by Laser Encore, presented by Veridian Credit Union! <p>The 2022 Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival is excited to return back to an IN PERSON Pancake Breakfast!!</p><p><br></p><p>Start your July 4th festivities with some delicious breakfast! The pancake breakfast will run from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM where you can enjoy your meal inside the ImOn Ice Arena! Jul This Ability-Holistic Dance July
<div data-hook="about-section"><h2 data-hook="about">About the Event</h5><div data-hook="about-section-wrapper"><div data-hook="about-section-text"><p>Jhe and Jenni both live with bilateral disabilities and chronic pain and have decided to entitle this form of movement “This Ability’’ as opposed to the term disability. We want to encourage all peoples, especially those who may be in mental and physical pain, to trust themselves through non-judgmental movement using the vehicle of sacred geometry.</p><p>The five elements, including their geometric shapes, are:</p><ul><li>Earth- Cube</li><li>Water-Icosahedron</li><li>Air-Octahedron</li><li>Fire-Tetrahedron</li><li>Ether-Dodecahedron</li></ul><p>We will be creating a safe space for people of all ages and experiences to be held in community movement and exploration, regardless of their current mental or mobility struggles.</p><p><br></p><p>THINGS TO BRING</p><ul><li>Weather appropriate, comfortable dress</li><li>Any items you'd like to incorporate into dance</li></ul><p>REGISTRATION</p><p>Sliding scale fee: $20 - $0, based upon your access to resources.</p><p><br></p><p>This class is a part of a 4-class series. He received his MFA from University of Iowa in choreography and dance. He is able to weave together and connect traditional ballet positions with the elementary teachings of the 5 elements. Every human being has a head, two arms and two legs which equals the five elements. In ballet there are five major positions which relate to the five elements.</p><p><br></p><p>Jenni Rose</p><p>From the age of five Jenni had the opportunity to dance with various dance studios and participated on the Solon High School dance team. She went on to study photography in Chicago, at Harrington School of Design and spent her twenties focused on learning about weaving, natural and synthetic dye processes, and shearing sheep. She interned at The Chicago Weaving School for 2 years, and through that process developed her own weaving curriculum that she then taught to the age of preschool to adult, in Chicago and Seattle. In 2018 she suffered an undiagnosed inflammatory episode that caused significant neuropathy and mobility loss. Stars and Stripes Musical Celebration
<p><strong>Stars and Stripes Musical Celebration, July 2 </strong></p><p>Kick off the 4<sup>th</sup> of July weekend at the <strong>“Stars and Stripes” Musical Celebration on Saturday, July 2 at 4 p.m. at the United Church of Monticello.</strong> At this first-time event, local musicians will perform patriotic music to celebrate the 4<sup>th</sup> of July. </p><p>Performers will include: David Marshall, a retired Anamosa music teacher, Melanie (Paulsen) Beyerl, a pianist who graduated from Monticello High School and now teaches music at Western Dubuque Schools, and a trio including Sandy Stamp, a violinist from Monticello, Alex Resendiz, also a violinist and Jose Resendiz, a key board player both from Marion. </p><p>Scott Kelly, organist at the First Congregational Church, Anamosa, will share his knowledge of the organ as part of his musical performance. Robby Holmes, a Monticello native, will perform patriotic vocal pieces.
