Community Music Day
<p dir="ltr">Community Music Day is coming back to the Cedar Rapids Public Library!</p><p dir="ltr">The third annual Community Music Day will be held on Saturday, March 4. The full-day event is free of charge to all and includes performances from local musicians of all ages, an instrument petting zoo, a music production workshop, musical story time, arts and crafts, and more. Organized by Harmony School in partnership with the Cedar Rapids Public Library, Community Music Day is a celebration of all of the rich culture of music that eastern Iowa has to offer. </p><p dir="ltr">“Community Music Day is a beloved tradition for us,” said Harmony School of Music director Jessica Altfillisch. “It’s about putting aside our differences and our worries for a day and just enjoying making music together. This year will be extra special because it is the first time we’ve been able to come together like this since the pandemic.” </p><p dir="ltr">Traditional activities including infant and preschool music classes, musical storytime, student performances, crafts, and instrument petting zoos will be available. A new feature will be workshops on music production. </p><p dir="ltr">In the afternoon, Harmony School students and teaching artists will invite all community members to join in a massive play and sing along. The day will end with a mainstage performance (artist announcement coming soon). </p><p dir="ltr">Harmony School of Music was founded in 2017 to break down barriers to music education. They offer free intensive after school orchestra programs in a safe and loving environment to all students in grades 3-8. <ul><li>Doors open at <strong>5:15 p.m</strong>. with trivia beginning at <strong>6:30 p.m.</strong> at the Alburnett Community School – <strong>Elementary</strong> gym</li><li>Please bring a snack to share and your own beverages; lemonade and water will be provided. <em>No alcohol will be allowed.</em> </li><li>The trivia will consist of <strong>teams</strong> of <strong>maximum of 8</strong> individuals with entry being $100 per adult table <strong>or</strong> $15 per adult and $50 per student table <strong>or</strong> $10 per student. <strong>Team registrations only</strong>, please.
