ORCHESTRA IOWA PRESENTS: THE BRANFORD MARSALIS QUARTET
<p><strong>Orchestra Iowa Presents</strong></p><p>Saxophonist <strong>Branford Marsalis</strong> is one of the most influential and revered figures in contemporary music. The NEA Jazz Master, Grammy Award winner and Tony Award nominee is equally at home performing concertos with symphony orchestras and sitting in with members of the Grateful Dead, but the core of his musical universe remains the Branford Marsalis Quartet.</p><p>After more than three decades of existence with minimal personnel changes, this celebrated ensemble is revered for its uncompromising interpretation of a kaleidoscopic range of both original compositions and jazz and popular classics. <p><strong>Fefu and Her Friends</strong></p><p>by María Irene Fornés<br>Directed by Juliana Frey-Méndez</p><p><strong>March 10 – April 2, 2023 at Riverside Theatre</strong></p><p><em>Revolutions start when women come together.</em> This seminal play of the 20th century explores feminism and sexuality through the intimate lives of eight New England women in the 1930s. In a unique twist, the central act of the play will be presented “promenade” style to take full advantage of the flexibility of Riverside’s new downtown home.</p><p dir="ltr">“Fornés’ groundbreaking and award-winning plays are celebrated for their powerful female characters, linguistic exactitude, culturally diverse narratives and theatrical experimentation.
