Exotic Animals with Dr. Michael Bechtel
<p>Meet Dr. Michael Bechtel, Associate Professor of Science Education at Wartburg College. Dr. Bechtel has always incorporated exotic animals in his classrooms-- everything from poison dart frogs to African spur thigh tortoises to Malaysian seramas (miniature chickens) to creating his own breed of mice. Oak Hill Jackson Annual Meeting

This months’ speakers are Augie from Monarch Research Project and a representative from ImOn who will answer questions about the future of service in the residential areas of the neighborhood. Members who have attended three or more meetings or events since June 2022 are eligible to vote for board candidates. Door prize drawing this month is worth $50. Tour de Brew 2023 at Millstream Brewing Co.
<p>Bikes, Bands & Beers at Millstream Brewing Co.’s Tour de Brew 2023! The 22<sup>nd</sup> annual Tour is a heavenly 30-mile ride through the picturesque scenery of the Amana Colonies with “hydration” stops along the way. The ride ends with a Free Block Party at Millstream is open to all with live music by the pFat Back Boys (1-4pm) and Detour (6-9pm), your favorite food trucks and ice-cold Millstream beer. Wheels roll at 10am at Millstream. Early registration is just $35 and includes a one-of-a-kind Tour de Brew 2023 t-shirt, beer route map, free beverage, water, snacks, raffle prizes and a daylong celebration at Millstream Brewing Co. Cedar Rapids historian Mark Stoffer Hunter will explain the origins of these "hidden homes" and more about the history of residential and commercial landmarks along this stretch of Cedar Rapids that is fast-changing. Get your wristband and start the tour at 6 p.m. Friday, June 16, at the church building at 124 19th St. NE (behind the former BetterLife office) with ample parking in the lot next to the building. This is a walking tour of approximately one mile, so dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. Admission: free with annual Save CR Heritage membership, (available at the door for $25) or $10 for non members.
