Presented by Linn County Master Gardener: Angel Burns </p><p>Planting spring blooming bulbs in the fall lets you get some of your gardening work out of the way for the following year. Most spring bulbs bloom in early spring and offer a glimpse of warm spring days ahead. Saving your own seeds is one way to guarantee a local food security as well as giving yourself a valuable source of seeds for many years to come. Learn the basic techniques for saving and storing flower, herb and vegetable seeds. You will take home free seeds from the workshop. Seed saving is fun and the seeds from many plants are easy to collect and save. Mini-Hydroponics Class at Prairiewoods
<p>You can grow fresh leafy greens and herbs all year long with a hydroponics system. Hydroponics is a technique of growing plants without soil using a water-based nutrient solution. It allows you to grow greens and herbs inside year-round without the need for garden space. In this workshop at Prairiewoods (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha), Linn County Master Gardener Phil Pfister will help you build your own mini-ponics system. You’ll be provided the materials and hands-on instructions to build your own system to take home. The cost is $90 and includes all supplies.
