Benefits of Fighting Fair Addressed at Lifetree Café

How fighting fair can make marriages and other relationships better will be explored at Lifetree Café on Friday, Dec. 20, at NOON.

The program, titled “Conquering Conflict: Healthy Ways to Tackle Disagreements,” features a filmed interview with Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott, whose relationship-building work has been featured on CNN, Good Morning America, Oprah, and the New York Times best-seller list.

“The average married couple argues about small, nagging things as much as 312 times per year,” said Les Parrott. “What matters is how we fight, not whether we fight.”

He also said fighting fair helps all relationships, but marriages suffer most when couples employ dirty tactics. “Ninety-three percent of couples who fight dirty will be divorced within 10 years.”

Participants in the Lifetree program will gain practical insights and skills for fighting fair, according to Lifetree representative Craig Cable.

Admission to the 60-minute event is free. Lifetree Café is located at 2500 29th Ave. (inside Lutheran Church of the Resurrection).

Lifetree Café is a place where people gather for conversation about life and faith in a casual, comfortable setting. Questions about Lifetree may be directed to Emily at (319) 377-4689 or office@lcrmarion.org.
2019-11-25 13:00:00 -060012/20/1912:00 p.m.Lutheran Church of the ResurrectionMarion -

Christmas Eve Worship - St. Paul's UMC, Cedar Rapids

“Joy to the World,” a beloved Christmas classic, turns 300 years old this year.

Composer Isaac Watt’s interpretation of Psalm 98 invites us to sing a “new song”–and it is a powerful cosmic performance of all creation being renewed and freed. Rather than “joy” being yet another word for “happiness,” we will discover that the depths of joy can be found especially in the midst of suffering, the work of justice, and the presence of compassion–all part of the coming of Jesus to this world and a message the world still so desperately needs. All are welcome. Please join our church family as we celebrate the birth of Christ! Worship services at 2:00, 7:30, and 11:00 pm at St. Paul's United Methodist Church (1340 3rd Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids).
12/24/192:00 p.m.St. Paul's United Methodist ChurchCedar Rapids -
