Night at the Museum
<p>Our most popular kiddo program is back with all new dates this Fall! Explore the Museum of Natural History after dark for an evening of pizza and STEM fun. Each month we'll explore a different area of science, technology, and culture with interactive demonstrations, fun activities, and hands-on learning. Your child will receive an official MNH Miner Helmet with a head lamp to keep, and the group will explore the darkened bird and mammal galleries as part of the evening’s activities. This is a drop off program, long enough for parents to have dinner or even go see a movie! Participants will learn about selecting a backpacking location, gear and clothing (what to pack, how to pack, and boot selection), food options, cooking, and wildlife. Physical conditioning for the trip and Leave No Trace principles will also be discussed. Studio Experience Workshop--Glass Picture Frame and Cocoa Mug
<h5>Studio Experience Sessions: Clay and Warm Glass</h5><p>This is a project oriented class intended to expose students to both clay and warm glass in our studio. This popular series for summer camps is now available once a month. Every month, participants will make a clay project (hand building using slabs and pinch pot techniques) and a warm glass project.</p><p>You will get both group and personal instruction. This is a great way for kids and parents alike to try both clay and warm glass in one session --without the commitment of an eight week class. Clay, glass, tools, firing, and instruction from our knowledgeable staff are included. Minimum age is 9 years old. All skill levels welcome. Projects will be available for pickup 2-3 weeks later. “Winter Fun” In-Service Day Camp
<p>School might be out for the day, but the learning and fun doesn’t stop at the Nature Center! Join us for a day of hands-on activities, games and experiments both inside Amazing Space and outside on the trails and grounds. This In-Service camp is open to all Kindergarten through 3rd graders and the topic is “Winter Fun”. Snacks are provided, but campers should pack their own lunch and reusable water bottle. Register by January 9 as space is limited. Cost is $40 per camper. This class is a 3-day class to allow us the time and space to learn the basics of folding book signatures, sewing bindings, how to use a book press and finally how to attach a cover. The materials fee covers all of the shared materials for the class as well as a basic book-clamp for binding that each student will take home. Students will also be asked to bring or find a piece of fabric that they would like to use to cover their book before the last class.
