Yid Yicious, "Kick-Ass" Klezmer Band
<p>Yid Vicious was formed in 1995 in Madison, Wisconsin, in order to ameliorate the woeful dearth</p><p>of klezmer in America’s otherwise pleasant heartland. Klezmer is Yiddish folk music, music for dancing and celebrating, and Yid Vicious has been spreading its infectious, original blend of freylekh fun throughout the Midwest and beyond for over a decade. Rather than replicate a particular time and place, Yid Vicious celebrates the long-standing tradition of klezmorim and incorporates new musical ideas into an organic and ever-evolving art form. The band’s seven members blend their backgrounds in classical, jazz, and world music to create a klezmer experience that will electrify audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Their musical arsenal consists of clarinets, fiddle, horn, vocals, guitar, accordion, tuba, drums, and sometimes theremin.</p>4/18/207:30 p.m.University of Dubuque Heritage CenterDubuque -

Mary Zeran: 10 Years
<p>In 2020, local artist Mary Zeran will have been working as a profession artist for 10 years. Given the CRMA’s rich history of presenting the art of local artists—especially when they’ve achieved a certain milestone or completed a specific new body of work—the idea of displaying a 10-year retrospective of Zeran’s work during the CRMA’s 125th anniversary year seems fitting. One of the very few local artists to have spent her entire painting career working in abstraction, Zeran’s work will challenge viewers to see her subtle but significant evolution over the course of the past 10 years. Constantly exploring, Zeran has crafted different methods of mark-making to accompany her evolution in palette and scale. The exhibition will not only trace the trajectory of her career, it will also include a site-specific installation created especially for this exhibition.</p><p><br></p> 2019-08-26 16:00:00 -05004/26/2012:00 p.m.Cedar Rapids Museum of ArtCedar Rapids -

The exhibition will not only trace the trajectory of her career, it will also include a site-specific installation created especially for this exhibition.</p><p><br></p> 2020-05-03 16:00:00 -05005/03/2012:00 p.m.Cedar Rapids Museum of ArtCedar Rapids -
