Rock Mandala Painting for the Whole Family at Prairiewoods
<p>Spend a few hours creating art with your favorite people! Join facilitator Andi Lewis at Prairiewoods (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha) for a fun time together as we learn the art of rock painting with mandalas, which are sacred works of art in the form of a circle. Using smooth stones, paints and fine dotting tools, we will make beautiful, detailed mandalas. This is a fun, relaxing process that can be done by anyone, regardless of age. We will have time to paint several rocks and will be encouraged to take one rock home and leave one as a secret gift for a stranger to find. No experience or artistic skill is necessary, but kids 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. (It is ideal for ages 10 and older.) This program usually fills up early, so register today! Everyone attending must register individually. The cost is $13 and includes rocks and all art supplies. Bridge to Opportunities for Older Adults
<p><strong>Craft Day Mandala Rock Painting: Doni Gould will guide us in Mandala rock painting. Smaller river rocks will be provided. If you’d like to paint a larger rock, pick out one with a smooth surface at a garden center or found in nature to bring with you. Enjoy social time with others while creating a treasure for your yard or to hide in a park for others to find. <p>Lilli Lewis at CSPS Hall on Friday, June 16, 2023 @ 8PM.</p><p><br></p><p>Athens, Georgia native turned New Orleans Folk Rock Diva Lilli Lewis is a voice for the voiceless in <em>Americana, </em>her third full album for Louisiana Red Hot Records, lauded by NPR, Rolling Stone, Offbeat Magazine, and the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Trained as an opera singer and classical pianist, singer-songwriter Lewis has been a composer, producer, and performing artist for over two decades. She has been known as the Folk Rock Diva since performing in the Folk Rock band The Shiz.</p><p><br></p><p>As the story goes, Lewis' mother was told her baby probably wouldn't survive because of lung trouble in utero. Lewis now uses those same lungs to bring what she calls sacred songs into profane spaces, and though she's abandoned trying to define her sound, she hopes her audiences leave her performances knowing two things: that they are brilliant as they are, and that they have the ability to use their own brilliance to make a better world.</p><p><br></p><p>This is a General Admission seated show held in the theater of CSPS Hall.
