Joseph Hall: ELVIS Rock N Remember

ELVIS IS IN THE BUILDING! Joseph Hall is thrilled to present his Elvis Rock N Remember tribute show! This show celebrates the roots of Elvis, yet is a fast-paced concert that makes it difficult for you to stay in your seat. It caters to both the young and the young at heart. He's got the look, the voice, the charm and the moves that take us back to a time when parents were flabbergasted by the flauntingly provocative hip action.

In Hall's Elvis Rock N Remember show, he achieves a powerful flashback experience to the moment when fans fell in love with the talented, handsome, carefree, energetic, high-spirited young man that is Elvis Presley. The show is masterfully produced with a mixture of Elvis hits from rock n roll, country, pop to gospel, multiple costume changes and a heartfelt tribute to our veterans. He's even got the teddy bears and scarves to woo the ladies. A must-see for all ages!

Joseph Hall, born in 1984, has been paying tribute to the legacy of Elvis Presley since 2006. He starred on NBC's America's Got Talent in 2008, making 6 TV appearances, viewed by more than 90 million people and placing as one of the top 10 finalists! Joseph Hall has performed all over the world! Joseph Hall has won accolades throughout his young career including the "Spirit of Elvis " award. Joseph Hall has worked with Elvis Presley Enterprises, Legends in Concert, and has officially been recognized as one of the top tribute artists in the world today. Hall says "My goal is to capture the essence of Elvis Presley, to pay tribute with the utmost respect to his legacy, his music, his image and above all else his fans.”

Tickets to this event are non-refundable.
2/20/217:00 p.m.Coralville Center for the Performing ArtsCoralville -

Art Exhibit: Picking up the Pieces

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA.— Gilded Pear Gallery is excited to present Picking Up The Pieces, a solo exhibition of new sculptures and paintings by local artist, Kimberlee Rocca.

Kimberlee Rocca is an artist and designer currently residing in Solon, Iowa. She studied Design, Printmaking, and Fiber Arts at The University of Iowa before earning her BFA in Metal Smithing in 1991. During her studies, Rocca was introduced to Foil Imaging, a unique process which combines traditional printmaking techniques with commercial foil printing processes. She has spent over 30 years exploring this innovated medium on paper, metal and now, in this exhibit, with salvaged construction materials. In addition to her studio work she is locally recognized for her custom home designs in the Iowa City area with unique architectural features, sculptural elements, and mosaic installations. Rocca’s two-dimensional works and sculptural installations are included in collections of The University of Iowa Museum and Hospital Permanent art collections, The University of Missouri St. Louis, and Kirkwood Community College among other private collections.

About this exhibition:

“My job sites are filled with a myriad of common, yet unusual materials that continually spark my imagination and wiggle their way into my fine art works” says Rocca. “My two creative disciplines are intertwined, and I have found that I can barely do one without the other.” Rocca says that walking the sites is a part of her process. “I regularly scavenge through the tossed materials to discover unused treasures. I have generated a collection of raw wood, beams, stone, tile, paper, plastic, and metals that I can process with abandon because I know there will always be more discards. Due to certain limitations in home building which require simplicity in most cases, my artistry tends to run in the opposite direction with bold colors, wild shapes and intentional imperfections.”

Gilded Pear Gallery is located at 808 Third Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403. Holistic Healing for Educators & Classrooms with Prairiewoods, Credit 1

Have the stressors of teaching, the pandemic, hybrid-learning, and daily life affected your personal happiness and well-being? Have you experienced difficulty finding time to engage in self-care activities that may help? In this one-hour credit course via Zoom, learn “microinterventions” to use daily to reset your brain and empower you to fully show up with a compassionate heart toward yourself, your students, your family and the world. Through practices of mindfulness, self-compassion and neuroscience, begin to restore holistic healing and build resiliency, joy, optimism and curiosity, leading to health and well-being. This online course with Prairiewoods is facilitated by Kim Seward, RN, BSN, CMI, and Ann Jackson, PBVM. It provides educators and any school or university staff with research-based theory, collaborative design and opportunities to practice. A text, Practicing Presence, is included in the registration fee. This first credit hour will be followed by credits 2 and 3 in the summer and fall of 2021. Credit 2 (June 23–25) will offer practices of mindfulness, self-compassion and neuroscience to develop a personal classroom toolkit for use with students. Deepening your own mindfulness and self-compassion skills will also be explored. Credit 3 (fall 2021) will invite collaboration to review outcomes, provide feedback and cite next steps. The cost is $35 per credit hour, paid to Grant Wood Area Education Agency. (Due to a generous donation by the Sisters of the Presentation, Dubuque, all additional costs will be covered!) For more information or to register, contact Prairiewoods at www.Prairiewoods.org or 319-395-6700.
2/26/215:30 p.m.Prairiewoods Franciscan Spirituality CenterHiawatha -
