Wire Woven Loop Earrings
<p>Learn to wrap thinner wire around thicker wire. This is a contemporary wire wrapping technique. Create a loop with this technique. Slip a recycled glass donut on this loop to form a lovely earring. Add an ear wire or create your own post. No experience needed. Instructor: Zanetta Hoehle.</p><p>Registration is $68 and includes all materials and instruction. Register in person, via phone at 319 338-1566, or on-line.</p><p>During the COVID-19 recovery period, classes are limited to 6 people on a first come first served basis via paying the registration fee. Face coverings must be worn during class and participants will be spaced at least 6 feet from each other. Tools will not be shared and will be cleaned before and after use. <p>Forgeries, mental illness, intrigue, and rapid fame—the dramatic circumstances of Ralph Albert Blakelock’s life often overshadow the merits of his work. <em>By the Light of the Moon</em> will feature eight exceptional artworks by Blakelock from the museum collection. Born in 1847, his early paintings were highly detailed landscapes inspired by Hudson River School painters. After traveling to the American West and becoming familiar with Barbizon painters, Blakelock developed the atmospheric landscapes for which he is known. Drenched in darkness and silvery moonlight, his thickly painted landscapes have a distinctive otherworldly quality.
