Rounding out the evening - we'll enjoy “Pennies on the Rail” with Jeffrey & Cheli Morgan and Rus & Roxanne Schomers - performing on guitar, fiddle, ukulele, percussion, and other instruments!
Uptown Bill’s Coffee House and Neighborhood Arts Center features a Bookstore and is a place where musical groups, budding authors, and artists offer entertainment. It's a gathering place that provides a warm atmosphere for support groups to meet. In the 1970s the inspiration to create Uptown Bill's came from UI's School of Social Services, Barry Morrow, and from Bill Sakter - a man who refused to limited by his disabilities. Bill passed away at age 70 in 1983, but his indominable spirit continues to inspire everyone who visits Iowa City's iconic Uptown Bill's. Today - differently abled people celebrate acceptance and support in this much loved Iowa City Community Non-Profit. It's also is the home of radio station KICI at 105.3 FM!
More about the night's Musicians:
Dave Moore, “A Prairie Home Companion” favorite, sings his own songs. Magic Dust, Coralville, and My Perfect Game to name just a few. He accompanies himself on guitar and accordion - sometimes with musician friends working together.
Al Murphy is a regular at the Mill where he performs the 2nd and 3rd Thursdays of every month with “The Burlington Street Bluegrass Band.” Be sure to think of your favorite tunes, because Al's encyclopedic mind knows country music and fiddle tunes that date back centuries!
Jeffrey & Cheli Morgan and Rus & Roxanne Schomers are “Pennies on the Rail.” They are regulars at Uptown Bill's on Saturday evenings. Performing on guitar, fiddle, ukulele, percussion, and more - this group's talents are impressive! Add to that their sense of humor and everyone enjoys their shows.
