Mindfulness is the power of mind to be deeply aware of what's happening—without commentary or interference. Research reveals numerous benefits to the nervous system, emotions and general sense of well-being. In the eight-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program via Zoom, we will cultivate the skill of mindfulness through formal meditation practices and informal integrative practices. Facilitator Chris Klug, a grief counselor and mindfulness teacher, has been an instructor in the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics since 2001. This series is co-sponsored by Prairiewoods and Cedar Memorial. It consists of a two-and-a-half-hour class each week for eight weeks (Tuesday evenings from June 1–July 20) and one extended six-hour Saturday class (July 10), all via Zoom. The information sessions are free, but the eight-week series costs $300 (a reduced fee because this class is being offered online). (Partial scholarships are available through Cedar Memorial.)
