Chorale Midwest Concert: Seeking Peace in Musicv

Chorale Midwest will excite, sooth and ultimately lift listeners’ hearts in “Seeking Peace in Music,” the closing concert of its 2018-19 Mainstage Series on Saturday, April 13 at 2:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 857 3rd Ave. SE in Cedar Rapids.
Dr. Bradley T. Barrett, director of choral activities, will lead the Chorale and small ensembles in a far-ranging program showcasing the power of music to celebrate and soothe the soul. Music will include John Rutter’s rousing “Cantate Domino;” Aaron Copland’s evocative “The Promise of Living;”Erika Lloyd’s haunting “Cells Planets; and Moses Hogan’s stirring spiritual “We Shall Walk Through the Valley in Peace.” The concert will also feature two works for multiple choruses: Jonathan Dove’s polyrhythmic, multi-chorus “Ring Out, Wild Bells;” and Kenneth Lampl’s contemplative “Jerusalem.”
