7/21: Jeff Allen
Jeff Allen founded the Plein Air Painters of
Iowa and is a past member of the Plein Air
Painters of Chicago, artist member of the
Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts of
Chicago, Iowa Artists, and the Cedar Rapids
Drawing Group. Jeff explains, “Painting is
a process of problem solving. Problems of
light, shadow, composition, form, rhythm,
along with what you want to say. If you ask
yourself the right questions while standing
in front of the canvas, you can create a
painting that the viewer can connect with.
Words alone are not enough.” Jeff’s work
has been described as bold, yet soft; pastoral
with a certain dreamlike, ethereal quality;
and impressionistic realism. Jeff draws his
inspiration from the Iowa landscape and the
group of friends that surround him.
