Event Description

Searching for Danish Ancestors is topic of Genealogy Society Program

Researching Danish ancestry may be easier when compared to that for other European groups, according to Michele McNabb, who will present the May 18th program at the Iowa City Genealogical Society. Michele will discuss the basic things that should be covered before “crossing the ocean” and the most useful sources for Danish research. Michele has a background that makes her an expert including a MA in Scandinavian Languages and Literatures and MLIS specializing in genealogical and local history librarianship. She has worked in library genealogical collections since 1982 and from 2002 until 2016 she was Manager of and principal researcher at the Genealogy Center of the Museum of Danish America in Elk Horn, Iowa.

Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting, which will begin at 9:30 a.m. May 18th, at the LDS Family History Library, 2730 Bradford Drive, Iowa City. A wheelchair accessible entrance is available from the east parking lot.
