Event Description

Cedar Rapids Central Church of ChristCleveland Area Neighborhood Association - Cedar Rapids, IowaCedar Rapids Jaycees, and Safe Kids Linn County are proud to host “Safe Fest 2019” on Saturday, June 22nd, 2019 at Cleveland Park in Cedar Rapids. Safe Fest 2019 is the 1st annual local children’s safety fair that will run from 8am to 12pm for families in Linn County. 

Admission is FREE. No pre-registration or tickets required. Registration will be at the welcome tents at the event. 

At Safe Fest 2019, children and families will have the opportunity to check out safety stations with information on bicycle safety, stranger danger, poison and drug safety, fire safety, and car seat safety. 

Those who attend will have the opportunity to enter to win a car seat donated by Cleveland Area Neighborhood Association, bicycle helmets donated by the Cedar Rapids Jaycees, tickets to Adventureland Park donated by Central Church of Christ, and other prizes. Special guests at Safe Fest will include Mr. Shucks from the Cedar Rapids Kernels, Herky the Hawk, McGruff the Crime Dog from the Cedar Rapids Police Department, and Sparky from the Cedar Rapids Fire Department

In addition to the safety programs, games, and special guests, the Cleveland Area Neighborhood Association will be fundraising for the new ADA compliant playground equipment for Cleveland Park and other planned neighborhood projects with their annual pancake breakfast. Breakfast will be served for the duration of the event (8am to 12pm). Cost is $5 for adults and children.  

The volunteer organizers of this event would like to give a special thank you to Kinnick Ellis, student at Cleveland Elementary School in Cedar Rapids, for naming the 2019 fair as “Safe Fest 2019” and designing the event logo.
