Cornell College Music Monday: Palisades Ensemble
- 7:30 p.m. -
- All Ages
The Palisades Ensemble was founded in 1992 by conductor Martin Hearne and presented its first performance at the 93rd Annual May Music Festival on the campus of Cornell College. That performance consisted of works by Stravinsky, Strauss and Dvořák. The group has returned many times to the festival and those later performances included works of Beethoven, Copland, Mahler, Weill and most recently Mozart’s Gran Partita, one of the most important works in the chamber music genre. The ensemble is comprised of the finest instrumental musicians in the upper Midwest, who come from the many regional orchestras that are part of the cultural life of Iowa.
