Event Description

On Oct. 4, St. Francis Day, come to Prairiewoods (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha) to celebrate a momentous occasion in our care of Earth! Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration (Prairiewoods’ founding organization) and the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation will sign an agreement to enter the majority of the 70 acres of prairie and woodlands at Prairiewoods into a conservation easement, saving this sacred space as a natural oasis for future generations. Please join us for part or all of the day’s celebration! The schedule includes guided ecospirituality experiences and tours to connect with the land (3–4 p.m.), a panel discussion on Sacred Space, Sacred Hope: Perspectives on Meaning & Mission (4–5 p.m.), an easement signing ceremony (5:15–5:45 p.m.) and a reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres (5:45–7 p.m.). All are welcome, however, registration is requested so that we can plan appropriately. For more information or to register, contact Prairiewoods at or 319-395-6700. Come celebrate this gift for the future!
