Czech Christmas Meal: Schnitzel with Potato Salad

Let’s celebrate Christmas with this traditional and delicious meal. Although Schnitzel originated in Italy, by the mid-19th century it made its way to Vienna. From there, it wasn't long before the Schnitzel become popular in the Czech and Slovak Republics as well. As time passed, it came to be considered a traditional Czech meal. The Czech name for this meal is "?ízek", and is commonly prepared from chicken, pork, or veal. Schnitzel is often served with potato salad, boiled potatoes, or mashed potatoes.
