Linn County Blindness Support Group
- 1 - 3:30 a.m.
- All Ages
If you are blind or experiencing loss of vision, life can be pretty scary if you don’t have any tools or connections to deal with the situation. Participating in a support group can help you find that you are not alone, and together we can share tips and tricks we have found to overcome difficulties posed by loss of vision. Though not a part of the Iowa Department for the Blind (IDB), support groups also act as a liaison with that state agency that provides training, equipment, and counseling to those with vision loss.
The Linn County blindness support group will have its next regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, 27 September 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to approximately 3:00 p.m. in Sedlacek Hall at Cottage Grove Place, 2115 1st Av SE, in Cedar Rapids.
We will have no outside speaker at this month’s meeting, but that gives us the opportunity to have some discussion among ourselves. Please come prepared to talk about an aspect of blindness/loss of vision that has been particularly problematic for you, and how you’ve tried to deal with that. If you have great solutions to share, we’ll benefit from that. If you have found no solutions, other members of the group may have ideas that are of help. We may not have time to deal with all people’s offerings, but can return to this subject at a later date.
We will devote some time to discussing pros and cons of the Lions Club’s invitation for us to organize as a Lions Club. Most of the remaining time will be for those of us who are iPhone users. Our own Matthew Taylor will continue the training from last month. If you stay around for this, it may continue till around 3:30
If you have questions, or want more information about the group, feel free to call Jonathan Ice at 319-298-2919, or e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
