Linn County Blindness Support Group
- 1 - 3:30 p.m.
- All Ages
If you are blind or experiencing loss of vision, life can be pretty scary if you don’t have any tools or connections to deal with the situation. Participating in a support group can help you find that you are not alone, and together we can share tips and tricks we have found to overcome difficulties posed by loss of vision. Though not a part of the Iowa Department for the Blind (IDB), support groups also act as a liaison with that state agency that provides training, equipment, and counseling to those with vision loss.
The Linn County blindness support group will have its next regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, 24 October 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to approximately 2:30 p.m. in Sedlacek Hall at Cottage Grove Place, 2115 1st Av SE, in Cedar Rapids.
We will have a brief presentation by Lori Sporrer of Hamilton Relay, which provides aid in communications (primarily phone and teleconferencing) for people with hearing loss. If you’re having troubles with hearing this could be of great value. In our remaining time we plan to continue our discussion of problem areas related to blindness and ways we’ve found to deal with them (or not).
For those of you who are iPhone users, after 2:30 our own Matthew Taylor will continue the training begun two months ago. If you stay around for this, it may continue till around 3:30
