On March 17, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds declared a statewide public health disaster emergency in response to the state's coronavirus outbreak. The proclamation includes the restriction of in-person gatherings of 10 or more people along with the temporary closing of several businesses in the arts, culture and entertainment sector.

Most of the public gatherings listed on the Hoopla calendar are canceled or postponed through the end of April. Please check with event organizers to confirm the status of events you see listed.

CANCELLED-CRFD Safety Scoop: Construction Fraud, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm, April 22, 2020, Central Fire Station, 713 First Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids, IA

Marion Building Official Gary Hansen and Cedar Rapids Building Official Kevin Ciabatti will discuss of topic of construction fraud. In their presentation, they will define construction fraud and they will illustrate tactics used by individuals to take advantage of our citizens, including our older adults. In addition, they will provide tips and methods on how to avoid construction fraud. Throughout their presentation, they will highlight examples and scenarios to protect yourself from becoming a victim.
