Creating Sensory Mats
- 10 - 11:30 a.m.
- Ages 17+
The Family Caregivers Center of Mercy is holding a Sensory Mats session at 901 8th AVE SE in Cedar Rapids. Sensory mats, also known as fidget blankets, can be useful for individuals living with dementia. For those who are restless or enjoy fidgeting or touching things, a sensory mat could help bring purpose and comfort. Caregivers are invited to come make a small sensory mat. All materials will be provided, including various items to sew onto the mats. Sheila Geraghty and Shiela Kielly, Center Volunteers, will be leading this session. Due to space, this session will be limited to 10 participants.
Registration is required. To register for a session or to request caregiving assistance at the Family Caregivers Center while attending this event, please let us know 48 hours in advance by calling (319) 221-8866 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. There may be charges associated with this program. For caregivers and care receivers ages: 18+.
