Event Description

Designed for the beginner grower looking to jumpstart a new dream, the backyard gardener who wants to start profiting off of their produce, or the independent farmer wondering why their current business model is not going as planned. Learn from course instructor Kayla Haupt, owner of 3.5-acre vegetable farm Under A Tin Roof, on how to get started farming on a small scale and what is required of growers to become successful. This class will teach you not only how to design and grow your own produce, eggs, and meats, but also the legalities and liabilities of operating a small farm, how to start a successful Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, market and sell at farmers’ markets, properly harvest and store fruits, vegetables, and flowers, and everything in between.

  • Registration is required prior to the class start date. If you have questions or would like to register, please visit www.kirkwood.edu/ce or contact 319-398-1022.
