Marion Heritage Center & Museum Program Event
Former Collins engineers David Van Dusseldorn and Robert Erlandson will present a slide program entitled The Collins GPS Story on Sunday, January 26 from 1:30 to 3:30 PM. The presentation describes the early technological developments that rapidly propelled GPS from a scientific curiosity to a practical means of accurate worldwide positioning, navigation and timing, and later developments that led to the widespread GPS adoption in aircraft, ground transport, precision agriculture, construction, communication network timing and cell phones.
This is our last program about the current exhibition The Collins Story: on the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing. The exhibition will close Sat., February 29, 2020. It has been sponsored in part by the City of Marion Hotel Motel Grant Program and offered in collaboration with the Arthur A. Collins Legacy Association. Admission to the exhibition is free courtesy of a grant from the McIntyre Foundation of Cedar Rapids.
