On March 17, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds declared a statewide public health disaster emergency in response to the state's coronavirus outbreak. The proclamation includes the restriction of in-person gatherings of 10 or more people along with the temporary closing of several businesses in the arts, culture and entertainment sector.

Most of the public gatherings listed on the Hoopla calendar are canceled or postponed through the end of April. Please check with event organizers to confirm the status of events you see listed.

A virtual option has been created to post and search for those events and programs that are offering an online gathering opportunity for our Hoopla readers. Enjoy!

Event Description

The menu includes:  carrot & celery relish, our signature chili*, rye bread, cake and beverage.  A $5 contribution is requested.  Tickets will be available at the door.

   
*There is just something special about Czech School chili!  It is made the old fashioned way, from scratch, and is meticulously seasoned, carefully stirred and simmered-all-afternoon by babičky (Grandmas).  Join us for a delicious, nutritious bowl or two!

We are honored to be able to continue the longstanding tradition of offering a Czech culture, heritage and language learning opportunity in Cedar Rapids.

In 2019, we reached the milestone of the 150th consecutive year of Czech School in Cedar Rapids!  Plans are underway for Czech School and Adult Czech Language 2020. Final details will be announced as soon as possible.
