On March 17, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds declared a statewide public health disaster emergency in response to the state's coronavirus outbreak. The proclamation includes the restriction of in-person gatherings of 10 or more people along with the temporary closing of several businesses in the arts, culture and entertainment sector.

Most of the public gatherings listed on the Hoopla calendar are canceled or postponed through the end of April. Please check with event organizers to confirm the status of events you see listed.

Event Description

The Family Caregivers Center of Mercy will hold Conversations with Lauren at 901 8th AVE SE in Cedar Rapids.  Couples where one partner is living with dementia are invited to socialize, share and meet regularly with other couples the third Thursday of the month.  We will discuss the challenges of coping with dementia and other caregiver selected topics.  Come learn from each other and share your experiences.  Conversation will be facilitated by Lauren Wood, MA, TLMFT and doctoral student at Mt. Mercy University.

Light refreshments will be provided.  Both caregivers and care receivers are invited.  Registration required.  To request caregiving assistance at the while attending this event at the Family Caregivers Center, please let us know 48 hours in advance by calling (319) 221-8866 or emailing fcgc@mercycare.org.  For caregivers and care receivers ages: 18+
