Event Description

The Marion Heritage Center’s ART Show

The Marion Heritage Center & Museum’s nineteenth annual “Art by Your Friends and Neighbors” exhibition. This year‘s show is expected to feature over 60 works of art by area artists - mostly Marion residents.  Included will be drawings and photography, ceramics, watercolor, oil and pastel renderings.  In announcing the event, exhibit chairman, Jay Kacena, said that last year’s event, which attracted over 700 visitors, confirmed the fact that “there are not only a lot of talented people in our town, there is a strong interest by others who enjoy seeing what they can do.”  Many of the works will be offered for sale.

A special display, dubbed "Repeat, Repeat and Repeat", features five interpretations of the same subject, painted by six different members of the Creative Artists Group along with the photograph on which the work is based.

As in the past, the exhibit is sponsored by Hills Bank and Trust Company.  Visitors will be invited to vote for their favorite entry and cash prizes will be awarded for the three most popular artists when the show closes on Saturday, May 30th.

The Marion Heritage Center is located at 590 10th Street in Marion.  Regular museum hours are 1 to 4 PM, Wednesday through Sunday.
