Event Description
What does a medieval manuscript, Civil War letter, bagpipes, and Porkettes Scrapbook all have in common? They're all found at Special Collections and Archives at the University of Iowa Libraries. Interested in WWII materials? We have those also. Tucked away on the 3rd floor of the Main Library, Special Collections offers a unique experience for researchers and the curious alike.
Outreach and Engagement Librarian Liz Riordan will talk about the stories found in Special Collections, along with ways you can interact with the collection from your own home. Hear about Tom Brokaw's work with WWII veterans, the search for loved ones at Fort Madison Penitentiary, and other stories archivists and librarians have discovered while working in Special Collections.
Everyone is welcome to participate in the Zoom meeting, which will begin at 9:30 a.m. October 31st. Send an email to icgsnews@gmail.com to receive details on how to join the meeting.
