Soul Care: Creative Arts Grief Support Group at Prairiewoods
- 5:30 p.m. to 7p.m. -
- All Ages
Take time to connect with others in grief and engage the creative spark. Jamie Siela, LISW, and Kristine Shultis, MDiv, LMT, CHT, from Unity Point Hospice facilitate this monthly grief group open to anyone grieving loss through death. On the third Wednesday of each month, come together at Prairiewoods (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha) to explore a different creative art medium. For October, we will focus on grief and creativity as non-linear processes. When these two processes come together there are many possibilities. We will create a circular journal. The format is a metaphor and a container for both grief and creativity. As the symbol of wholeness, the circle can hold the fragmented pieces of the self, as losses are integrated within the changed landscape of our life. The format of this journal invites a gentle exploration of grief, allowing for multiple perspectives on living with grief. Registration is required by noon eight days in advance. As a joint program with Unity Point, Covid screening questions will be asked upon arrival. This group is free and includes all art supplies. For more information or to register, contact Prairiewoods at www.Prairiewoods.org or 319-395-6700.
