Event Description

Join us for an afternoon of music on Saturday, July 31st at 2:00 in the community room.

The Siren Duo was formed in January 2021 through the University of Iowa String Residency Program and started the transition into a professional ensemble in May 2021.

As an unusual instrument pairing with minimal repertoire, they developed a passion for discovering and commissioning new music for this unique combination. Members Arianna Edvenson (clarinet) and Dominique Archambeau (viola) are currently doctoral performance and pedagogy students at UI who have been mentored extensively by Dr. Réne Lecuona, Professor of Piano at UI.

The duo has had the opportunity to participate in masterclasses and coachings with Anthony McGill and members of the Jasper String Quartet and the JACK Quartet.

Inspired by the idea of the captivating sounds of the mythical siren songs, they strive to bewitch their audiences with their performances as the sirens were said to do to the sailors passing them by.
