Event Description

Join Iowa historian and author Linda McCann as she shares her stories on Rosie the Riveters of Iowa.

Rosie the Riveters were the women that went to work during World War II to keep our country functioning. The icon known as Rosie was used as an advertising promotion to get more women to take the jobs left vacant by men going to fight.

The Rosie group includes all the jobs women took to help out, not just those who worked in factories. This includes the women who babysat for other women, the garbage collectors or firefighters, and unpaid volunteers in many fields.

Linda was able to speak with about 25 women who had worked as Rosie's and will  share their memories.

This program will be in person and in the library community room.

Linda will also have copies of her books available for purchase. Cash or check only.
