Special Cedar Rapids School Board meeting on Garfield Elementary Closure

Following a successful petition drive by Save CR Heritage and a coalition of school supporters, the closure of Garfield Elementary School was required to be added to the Cedar Rapids School Board agenda. The school district chose to have a special meeting, rather than include the item in its regular board meeting. Save CR Heritage wanted residents to have a voice in a decision as important as a school closure, which has far-reaching effects. The public is invited to speak at the meeting, but must arrive a few minutes early to sign in.
