Event Description

Help us celebrate the vital importance of wetlands to our ecological, economic, and social health. Families are invited for a hands-on wetland exploration to discover what critters are living in or around the water. Participants will use nets to catch frogs, crawdads, snails, and insects hatching throughout the wetlands as part of a water quality assessment. Naturalists will help you identify critters and will have microscopes on hand for viewing and identifying samples as well. Check out the on-site exhibits, displays, and activities provided by Iowa State University and other partnering organizations. Come and go from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Cost is free. No registration is required.
