Event Description

No One Should Fall Through the Cracks

Human Trafficking is the second largest and fastest growing organized crime in the United States.  Chains Interrupted fights human trafficking through awareness, prevention and advocacy.  We provide training to schools, hotels/motels, medical facilities, churches, community organizations and businesses.  We offer advocacy and assist survivors who are able to escape their traffickers.

Our Beauty from Ashes program offers assistance with, and referrals to trauma and substance abuse counseling, as well as training in budgeting, job and life skills, self-defense, and healthy habits. For those who need it, we have a Harbor Home: housing to assist survivors to recover their souls and obtain independent living.  To continue this work, we need support from people like you.

Opportunity: We are preparing for the 2022 Red Sand Project, Saturday, July 30th.  Registration to pour sand begins at 10:00 am.  We anticipate hundreds will join us for an 11:30 am rally in NewBo.  Our Co-Founder and CEO, Teresa Davidson will bring awareness surrounding current dangers to our children, especially through technology. Others will be sharing their message, including someone who survived human trafficking and overcame the odds to now be able to help others. We will pour red sand in the cracks of the NewBo and Czech Village areas of Cedar Rapids symbolizing how victims are often seen, but truly unseen as they fall through the cracks.
