Event Description

Save CR Heritage continues to mark its 10th anniversary with a walking tour that goes back to where it all began, when  demonstrations were held to protest the demolition of First Christian Church. Join Cedar Rapids Historian Mark Stoffer Hunter at 4 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, on a walking tour that goes back to the inception of Save CR Heritage one decade ago. See what remains and learn what has been lost as Mark traces the origins of the nonprofit and its neighborhood. Start at the J.E. Halvorson House, 606 Fifth Ave. SE. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. Each tour is approximately 90 minutes. Tickets are $10 each, with cash or checks preferred. Proceeds go toward saving the nonprofit group's early-1900s J.E. Halvorson House, located next to Kathy's Pies. (Please leave the Kathy's Pies parking lot open for their customers.)
