Granny Basketball Jamboree

The 16th annual Granny Basketball Jamboree will be held at Trinity Lutheran School, 1371 Seventh Ave. SW in Cedar Rapids on Saturday, Feb. 11 starting at 9 am and lasting to approximately 3 pm.  Teams from though out Iowa and even Minnesota and Kansas compete in half games in the am and then recombine according to age groups in the afternoon with the oldest group playing around 1 pm.  Granny Basketball is an adaptation of six on six basketball that allows women over 50 to play the game they and many others loved from high school and beyond.  

The event is open to the public but a free-will donation to the Meals on Wheels program administered by Horizons, A Family Service Alliance which delivers hot, nutritious meals to homebound older adults in the Cedar Rapids area is encouraged.  The Trinity Lutheran volunteers will also serve lunch and hold a bake sale.  

In the event of inclement weather, the Jamboree wills be rescheduled to Saturday, Feb. 18.  Masks are recommended.
