Event Description
Warbirds Over Iowa is an event that brings radio controlled scale military aircraft from Iowa and surrounding States to Cedar Rapids. Aircraft of varying sizes and types are represented, some as large as 12’ across with four engines. Many of the aircraft have exceptional scale detail and can drop simulated “bombs” in the interest of realism as they compete for awards like Best Flight, Best Scale Appearance, and Pilot's Choice. Aircraft from multiple nations and eras will be flown including WW1 Fighters, WW2 Fighters and Bombers, and even modern jets powered by actual turbine engines. The event is a draw to pilots in surrounding states and also a fund raiser for Eastern Iowa Honor Flight. Donations will be taken for the organization that allows veterans to fly to
Models will be flown by pilots from Iowa as well as surrounding areas. Spectators of all ages are welcome and admission is free. A special invite is extended to veterans. Many of the radio control pilots are interested in aviation history and will enjoy speaking with our aviation veterans. Any donations to benefit Eastern Iowa Honor Flight from both pilots and spectators will be gladly accepted. This is also an opportunity for Veterans to get information about future Honor Flights.
Food will be available onsite for purchase. Bring your own shade.
