Event Description

55+ Ushers’ Ferry Trunk Show – One Room School Houses: Learn a little history and revisit Linn County’s iconic one room school houses with a short PowerPoint presentation; then have your own one room school lesson with the Ushers Ferry school Marm as we ring the school bell and use some slates and slate pencils, work some arithmetic, read from the McGuffey readers and maybe even have a spelling bee! We will pass around items from the one room school like lunch pails, schoolbooks and favorite games like jacks and marbles. Feel free to share your memories and mischief from your own school days!

Bridge to Opportunities meets at 2100 1st Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, directly across from Cottage Grove Place and Cottage Grove Ave.  (This is Refugee City Church, the former Four Oaks building.)  Parking and entrance, including a handicap ramp are at the back of the building.
Weather Cancelations:  Programs will be cancelled if CR schools have closed.
