On March 17, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds declared a statewide public health disaster emergency in response to the state's coronavirus outbreak. The proclamation includes the restriction of in-person gatherings of 10 or more people along with the temporary closing of several businesses in the arts, culture and entertainment sector.

Most of the public gatherings listed on the Hoopla calendar are canceled or postponed through the end of April. Please check with event organizers to confirm the status of events you see listed.

A virtual option has been created to post and search for those events and programs that are offering an online gathering opportunity for our Hoopla readers. Enjoy!

Event Description

Come together with women of various faith traditions to explore questions of faith and spirituality. This group meets quarterly at Prairiewoods (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha) and is facilitated by Angie Pierce Jennings, Virginia Melroy, Dr. Paula Sanchini and Mary Beth Siemann. On Feb. 29, we will discuss the topic of how our spirituality inspires our care for all creation, including our non-human family and the whole planet. We are invited to bring a reading or prayer to share with the group, as well as an object that represents our faith tradition or the topic in general. The cost is $15 and includes lunch. Registration is required by Feb. 26. (Please include any dietary restrictions at registration.) For more information or to register, contact Prairiewoods at www.Prairiewoods.org or 319-395-6700.
