On March 17, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds declared a statewide public health disaster emergency in response to the state's coronavirus outbreak. The proclamation includes the restriction of in-person gatherings of 10 or more people along with the temporary closing of several businesses in the arts, culture and entertainment sector.

Most of the public gatherings listed on the Hoopla calendar are canceled or postponed through the end of April. Please check with event organizers to confirm the status of events you see listed.

A virtual option has been created to post and search for those events and programs that are offering an online gathering opportunity for our Hoopla readers. Enjoy!

Event Description

Tired of the same old lunch places? Let’s renew our bodies and refresh our spirits in a beautiful setting! Join us for Y.O.L.O. (Your Other Lunch Option!) at Prairiewoods (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha)—a lunch choice celebrating wholesome, fresh food made from scratch by chefs Tara King, Laurie Erlacher and Rochell Potter in Prairiewoods’ no-waste kitchen. We dine in a community setting (at small-group or communal tables) with friends we bring with us or new friends we meet over a delicious themed lunch. On April 15, indulge in decadent foods focused on the theme of tax day. Take the sting out of the day by joining us for a celebration of abundance. Spring will be in the air, and we’ll be surrounded by good friends and delicious food! Fellowship begins at 11:30, and the buffet line opens at noon. The cost is $12. Registration is required at least two days in advance, and each lunch is limited to 35 people. This lunch always sells out, so register early! For more information or to register, contact Prairiewoods at www.Prairiewoods.org or 319-395-6700.
