Event Description

Presented by the University of Iowa Department of Dance.

All works choreographed by graduate and undergraduate students in the Department of Dance are brought to life on stage at Space Place Theater.

gather . unravel . repeat
Choreography by Ailey Picasso, in collaboration with the dancers
This quartet brings to light intimate moments and inner dialogues stitched together to form a tapestry of motion in space and time.

Á Bruit Secret
Choreography by Chafin Seymour, in collaboration with the dancers
Garnering its title from Duchamp readymade, Á Bruit Secret works in formal (and informal) capacities to arrange and re-arrange space, time, and movement. What is seen is not yet known, and what is known cannot be seen. It is a prelude to a dance that doesn’t exist.

Flickering Might-Have-Beens, Reluctant Yet-To-Bes
Choreography by Valeria Amador, in collaboration with the dancers
This dance was inspired by all the fleeting moments and opportunities missed that are so quickly here and gone just as fast.

Choreography by Edward Forehand

Choreography by Ailey Picasso, in collaboration with Christine Howe
An effort to synthesize the confluences of one’s world through movement, this solo navigates the confines and instability of that process.

Too Good to be True
Choreography by Sarah Olson, in collaboration with the dancers
Too Good to be True examines and questions traditional gender scripts that are presented and internalized by young women.

Thanks, A & V
